Two days old and counting

We are sitting here in the hospital waiting for our lactation consultant, and waiting to go home. I can't wait to put Russ into all of his cute clothes. The ones we brought to the hospital to bring him home in are too small!
So, everybody has a birth story that they want to share, right? Here is a little of ours. Mom and dad Wood came into town to see Wicked, and we were really hoping they would be here when he was born. Dad had to leave Sunday afternoon, so we were shooting for anything before then. Mom and Dad Gardner were also in LA, on a layover on their way to Hawaii. Their flight left Saturday morning, so we knew there was no way I was getting him out before then. We went to dinner with the Gardners and came back to our apartment. Mom and Dad Wood told us about the play and we all went to bed. I was having some contractions, but it was nothing new. We had just dozed off at about 1:30 when I had a contraction and felt a little pop. Nothing came trickling, but i got up to go to the bathroom. A couple seconds after I stood up I felt like I started peeing my pants all over our bedroom floor. There was no mistaking, my water had broken.

The picture of me in the jumpsuit is on our way to the hospital after my water broke. We were PSYCHED! I was so excited I couldn't stop giggling.
So, we got to the hospital, had contractions, dilated, after five hours I got an epidural...RELIEF! Everything was going nicely, and before long it was time to push. At this point my epidural was wearing off, which is what I wanted, so I could feel to push better. After the first round of pushing they turned off the epidural completely and waited for it to wear off. Well, the next hour can be summed into pain, push, pain, pushing as hard as I possibly can, nurses and doctors everywhere, feeling like I was going to explode or die, pain, vacuum, push push push push push BABY!!!!! They held him up and his head was one long cone, and he was white and blue and big, but all I thought was that he was so cute. He was the most beautiful person in the whole world.

We have been having so much fun with him so far. We just got home so we have some pictures of that too.

I think I've been checking hourly for more pics! That is a seriously cute kid, you two! Bek - you're a champ and I'm so glad everything went so well. I would have loved to see his little vacuumed head! It's amazing how fast their heads go back to normal shape, huh?

I can't believe how big he is. Paul was an ounce smaller and when they told me how big he was it was the first time I was thankful to have a c-section. Way to go Bekah! Hopefully you are recovering well.
