My First Whale

Yesterday was one of those days that seemed a little too good to be true. We headed out to Zuma to hike up Point Dume and spend some time on the beach. Those of you who know Mark at all can back me up when I say/write, that Mark happens to be an excellent planner. Everything he plans turns to gold. When I plan something we end up wasting a lot of time lost and confused, which is one of the reasons we fit together, and one of the reasons I fell for him.
We get to the beach, and if happens to be the most beautiful day; shining sun, temperature low 80's, little to no wind. We look out into the ocean and there are dozens of dolphins and seals playing around.
We walked along the beach over to Point Dume.

Bonus: There were people set up with equipment climbing the point. This looked very fun to me. I asked if they set up here often. Sensing my excitement, he asked if I would like to go up, AND let me borrow some shoes. I was in heaven.

As if all of this isn't enough we hike the point, come back down, are relaxing on the beach and what do we see?

A humpback whale!

I have never seen a whale before, and it was putting on a show. He pushed his entire head out of the water, looked right at me, and winked. It was unbelievable.
Then, all of a sudden we turn to see that some of our friends happen to be sitting right behind us and got to hang out with them for a bit. What are the odds?
I think Heavenly Father is helping to boost my 'fun account' as we head right into the heart of busy season.

If I didn't love you so much, I'd totally hate you!! WOW, that is THE perfect day! I don't know if you know but dolphins and whales are so beautiful to me, my favorite animals to watch. I have never seen dolphins in the wild before. That must have been amazing! Here's to many more!

I should take lessons from Mark. The things I plan always turn out lame!

What an amazing day! That settles it. Next time we're in southern California visiting Connor's family, we're definitely going to hit you guys up as well for a day. Maybe some of your fun will rub off on us!
