When Catching Up Seems Impossible

This post won't catch us up to present, but it's a step. One of Mark's best friends Aaron spent last week at our house. It was very fun to have him around. In addition to staying up until 3:30 in the morning talking, and watching a lot of basketball we also spent an afternoon at the Getty.

Last weekend I ran a half marathon. Can you believe it? I cannot. In a moment of self confusion I signed up to run with my friends Gina and Jon. My goal was pretty simple: Finish! Do not call Mark halfway through and tell him to come pick me up.

Mark's expectations were pretty low. He predicted I would be the very last one to cross the finish line. It is not that he doesn't believe in me, it's just that I didn't train.

The race was a lot of fun. It was on a trail and the first 9 miles were basically uphill. It was beautiful! Besides a few minutes when the trail was very narrow, and running was impossible I ran the entire distance.

A couple hours after the race... that smile you see was gone. I was in serious pain begging Mark to take me to the emergency room or knock me out of my misery.

My parents also came down to visit us last month. We had a great time being treated to delicious Mexican food and visiting the Reagan Museum in Simi Valley. The museum was enlightening and the setting was gorgeous. Unfortunately, no camera.

Mark's parents bought a home in St. George and we spent a weekend there with everyone but Derrick, Deana and Eddie. We love spending time with our family. We were especially excited to see Scott and Missy together as a couple. Scott is Mark's brother and Missy is my cousin. We introduced them and they fell madly in love and are getting married next month.

Lu Lu and Eric also came to stay with us for a weekend. What a lovely lively pair. We spent Saturday downtown at the fashion district. It reminded me of bartering in Mexico. We also went out and saw the movie, "Madea Goes to Jail". They were the ones who introduced us to Tyler Perry's movies. We all laughed our heads off and decided this movie is definitely one of his best. We had a great time with them and it was really hard to let my Lulu go back to Utah.
