Enormousaurus

Four weeks into the third trimester and the baby/belly growth is happening fast. Shirts that fit me fine two weeks ago no longer cover the belly. Sleeping must be done on the right or left side, and I have to switch sides every couple of hours. Because my abdominal muscles are currently out of order, rolling over requires either throwing my arms and legs over and letting momentum pull the rest of me, or kicking off with my legs and pulling with my arms.

I was explaining this to Mark the other night as we were lying in bed and our conversation went something like this;

"I am starting to feel really big, gigantic, enormous."

This made Mark laugh, "Enormous? Like an elephant. You remind me of an elephant, or a dinosaur."

Which made me laugh, "Exactly, a dinosaur."

"You are an enormousaurus. That's what we'll call you from now on."

And we both laughed. Now when I complain that it's hard to tie my shoes, or ask him to push my back so I can get off the couch, he says, "It's because you are enormousaurus."

Since I am on the subject of pregnancy...again (s0rry) I have to tell every woman how wonderful swimming is while pregnant. I finally gave up running -slow jogging is more honest- a couple of weeks ago when I felt pretty strongly that if I did not stop my jog immediately my water was about to break all over the treadmill. I decided to try swimming, which is exercise that I have previously loved, but have not done much in the last couple of years.

Getting into the pool when you are heavy with baby is like a massage on your body. It feels delightful! You are weightless! Aaah, all the pressure from your knees and ankles, and hips just melts away.

Swimming laps=great workout and no later aching.

Added bonus- you don't feel like you are going to pee your pants every second, in fact you don't feel like you are going to pee your pants at all.

So, when your belly starts to get real big, call yourself an enormousaurus. It will make you laugh. Then get in the pool.

I loved the pool too! I would swim every morning when I was pregnant. I had horrible back pain and swimming would really help it go away for a few hours. I'm glad that you found something to take away the pain of working out.

best description ever: "rolling over requires either throwing my arms and legs over and letting momentum pull the rest of me, or kicking off with my legs and pulling with my arms."---LAUGHING my head off. That is ExACTLy what it was like in the end!

Also, just this morning I was thinking, "Oh, I like this baby so much better OUT of my stomach! Everything is so much better (and more comfortable) with their exit out of the tummy). TRUE STORY!

Good luck making it through the rest of the pregnancy!
Glad swimming is helping!
