Mark and I have a tradition. On the Monday following Thanksgiving we set up all our Christmas decorations and tree while listening to Christmas music. When we are finished we clean up, light our candles, turn on the Christmas tree lights, drink hot cocoa and read a Christmas story. If this sounds a little too sparkly to be true, it is. We do all the things previously mentioned while dishing out some sass to each other about where decorations should go, and how to put lights on the tree. But, we enjoy it.
This year we adjusted our tradition, and it is for this adjustment that I titled this post, "you will want to read this one". Instead of drinking hot cocoa (which we still love) we made egg nog shakes. We got the idea from our friends Adam and Ashley. Throw some egg nog, frozen yogurt and a little cinnamon in the blender. Taste it and add milk or ice if desired.
They were delicious. We might have to make a tradition of drinking them every night by the light of the Christmas tree.
Bonus for reading this:
The next morning Mark showed Russ our nativity. Russ took one long hard look at it and said, "Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus camping!"
"Um, yeah actually"

Egg Nog is one of my very favorite things! Nothing like it ever. I think we will definitely have to try it. I was pretty upset when Scott said that you guys weren't going to be in Utah for Christmas break. I guess we will just have to come out to California again! We miss you guys!
bekah i just spent a good amount of time catching up on your blog! you've been updating a lot more frequently...prob has something to do with lukey sleeping through the night! anyways, have loved catching up and hope we get to see ya again soon!
I cannot BELIEVE that I just now read this blog for the FIRST TIME!!!! I guess you wrote it the day that Shelley and her children flew in, so I guess I have a good excuse, but...
I WISH WE HAD MADE THE SHAKES WHILE YOU WERE HERE!!!!
OH HOW I MISS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
What a crack-up about the nativity being a "camping" story! ...it IS TRUE...sort of!
Love you,
MOM W
