Babes

Sorry about the bullets. They are not actually supposed to be bullets, but I seriously don't know how to put paragraphs in anymore.
  • Yesterday Russell, Luke and I were out for a walk. I was watching Russ running around in his Woody hat, stopping to look at bugs, rocks, flowers, walking the curb like a balance beam, jumping and then spontaneously lying down on the sidewalk. I suddenly realized that though I know him so well as a three-year-old (I can predict his movements, his responses, and much of what he will say) I have absolutely no idea what he will be like as an adult. I am pretty certain that most of his interests -Buzz Lightyear, trains, toys, bunnies, horses, pirates, colors, Simba, Disney music- will disappear altogether, and what will interest him then?

  • It was one of those moments when I looked into who eyes and thought, "Who are you?"

  • It was one of those moments when I saw him as my equal.

  • There are some parts of him that I believe may be part of his real character. He is very sweet and sensitive. He is quite interested in identifying his and others' emotions and is very good at it. Maybe he will be a psychologist.

  • He is also excellent and learning numbers and letters. He often tells me, "Mommy, I love counting numbers." He has always been soothed by counting, and memorizes numbers, letters and words quickly. Maybe he will be an accountant.

  • I just hope that he will be happy and good, and will still love me!

  • The other night I tucking Russ in bed, and he told me he was "sared". Translation: scared. This is not too unusual, Russ has a lot of fears. We said a prayer, but he was still "sared" so I asked if he wanted me to put his angel on his bed to watch him while he slept. He was very enthusiastic about his idea, so I placed the angel on the edge of his little toddler bed.

  • When I went to get him in the morning I found that he had found all his nativity pieces in his room and had them watch watch him sleep too. He was very happy to tell me that "Widdew baby Jesus" watched him sleep. Yes, all of his available nativity pieces and Dash.

This morning Russ was playing with his special letter train that "Gate Gamma" gave him and he soon said, "Mommy, Yook!"

"WoodyBuzz!" I was impressed, especially because the train only includes one of each letter of the alphabet.
Next thing I knew he had added Jessie.

I turned around for a few minutes and he had fixed it up even more. Oh so close!

This little sweetie turns one tomorrow! We had a little celebration on Sunday.

I'll give a little more of an update on him later, but he warms our hearts!

I was just telling Dad about Russ and his "angel" watching over him as he slept and then his getting out the nativity pieces to watch him. I CRIED! What a sweet, sweet boy!

I remember soooo well a year ago when I got to come and be with you for Luke's homecoming!!! What sweet memories.

Time flies...TOOO FAST!

Love,
Grandma Paula

Holy Cow Bekah! I am totally amazed!!! It is very interesting that he puts the letters and words backward. What does it mean? Have you done any research? Do you work with him on reading or spelling? He is so smart and so sweet. I have this special tenderness for Russ. He is just such a sweetheart. Luke is huge! And I am totally jealous over Costa Rica!!!!!!!! Good job vacation planning.
